Hey all!
It's been a great rebirth of the GOP in SL. We owe Vyre a debt of gratitude (and perhaps some sweat and $L) for striking The Spark (tm) that is moving the party forward in SL.
It's been great to meet so many people... we're a heck of a group!
As I told Vyre today... "We are NOT what the media says we are. Come meet us!" And the Republican HQ can be that meeting place.
And to me, SL is a VERY social enviornment... probably not suited to the work of local or even national races, but perhaps the social growth of conservative ideas is our best aim. We get to say who, what, and why we are Republicans, and it won't get filtered or spun down by the media.
A place like the GOP HQ makes it possible to host many kinds of social events... everyone loves to dance in SL... even if they can't in rl, yes? Mixers, guest speakers, so much can happen here in SL.
I can tell from our meetings that folks are ready to talk politics! That's great! As we form, we can't avoid adding a little structure to things, but my personal feeling is that we are too fun of a group to put up with too much structure! We probably want to party (the P in GOP). I know I do.
Would it be a good idea to chat here about issues for the meeting? To work through ideas in the forums... then line them up so that come meeting time, we can just fire away?
SL asks us to do things in a slightly different way... it's the nature of the beast. I know that we will find innovative ways to take advantage of what SL gives us... and get around SLs limitations.
I plan to nominate Summer Seale as our official mascott and Head of Party Organizing
We put the P in GOP!
truth. justice. the American way.

Ryder, if you didn't have so much skill in other area's I would say that the blogging team needs you. Such writing skills should be displayed for the world to see (or at least people who stumble across us).
Everything you said seemed to be right on the money. Why throw a damp towl over such a group as ours? Clearly too much structure will have a bad effect on us, and cause us to become too stuffy, bland, and everything else that the media would place upon the real GOP if they had the chance.
Lets just be us, and define ourselves as we go along. These forums can be a wonderful tool to help clear out some of the less fun issues in a fashion where we each have the time we need to clearly think before we speak, yet at the same time allow us to keep SL the dynamic medium that it is.

I was trying to figure out where to post this, so my apologies if it is in the wrong topic.
I was wondering if there was someway to coordinate the meetings. There seems to be a bit of an issue with introduction of topic, debate/discussion, and the following motion/second and vote.
Perhaps something to help designate what is going on and what is being done. Point on fact that a second was given and then the slogan was reworked, without the motion to vote being withdrawn.
It does tend to get a bit confusing when enough people start talking about a topic at the same time. And then suddenly motion/second/vote.
(anyone else having troubles logging on? I log in, and then go to a topic/forum and and unable to post. It asks me to log in at the top, but also lists me as a logged in registered member on the Home page) _________________ Revolution by Night... into the Darkness

Great post Imaginos. I think there is some confusion when it comes to the order of official business. We, as officers, spoke about that at our meeting this week. We are all working towards making this a function environment with which to discuss and advance ideas. I hope you like the changes that we plan on making with the meetings to come. You will see less "business" and more discussion of the real ideas behind our party. Thank you for your input _________________ No nation has ever taxed itself into prosperity. - Rush Limbaugh
